We've finished riding our Calais to Nice route and it crosses some really lovely countryside with great cycling. It follows the path of least resistance - which is not to say it is flat as there are some hills - but we purposely avoid the hillier regions and use river valleys wherever possible. There are some great entirely flat sections along the ViaRhona long distance cycle path beside the river Rhone, and you will pass through many different wine-producing regions, which are typified by an unspoilt landscape and pretty villages. A true journey, you will see how the landscape changes as you head south towards the Cote d'Azur.
Photographs from our recce ride can be seen on the trip page or on our facebook page.
