Burgundy

One of the old kingdoms of France, Burgundy is synonymous with fine living. Its very name evokes conjures images of silky smooth wines and fine cuisine. The regional capital Dijon is full of fine architecture, whist the charming town of Beaune is a must-see and is home to most of the serious wine players.

Quiet lanes wind their way through this unspoilt landscape and traffic is a rarity. Cycling past such illustrious names as Romanee-Conti, Montrachet and Clos de Vougeot adds a certain je ne sais quoi to your bike holiday, especially when you get to taste some of the regions finest wines the same evening. You can really get away from it all here yet enjoy a bit of luxury too.
