Provence
Provence is a great region for a cycling holiday due to the climate. It is one of the driest parts of France, and the temperatures can extend the riding season considerably - thus it's a good early or late season choice. It is characterised by vineyards, lavender fields and olive groves, all with the backdrop of the famous Mont Ventoux in the background. The villages are pretty and are unspoilt, many of them perched on hilltops.
It is not flat, with various ranges of mountains catering for those who like their climbing, but there are also ways to avoid the climbs if you want!
The area was made famous in the late 1980s by the book 'A Year in Provence' that for many people symbolises the dream of rural France; with a bike holiday here you too can escape, and discover an unspoilt and historic region.
New for 2014 is our Provence and Luberon ride. Our Calais to Nice trip also passes through the region.
