Our philosophy is to give people a good day out on the bike, followed by a good hotel and a decent meal. There are companies who will offer a 20 mile a day itinerary, and some who will offer multiple trips up Alpe d'Huez. These ride are neither; they sit in between. It is safe to say that all of our tours are designed for people who are moderately active, whether they are cyclists, runners, enjoy walking, have active jobs, or are just prepared to 'give it a go'.
Some of them are better suited to first time cyclists and these are them:
Canal du Midi is the one if you want flat, flat, flat! The only obligatory hills are the bridges over the canal. It is slow-paced, leisurely cycling and if you are thinking of introducing your partner or children to the joys of a cycling holiday this could be the place to start. It is also an incredibly beautiful region and the canal is a World Heritage Site for good reason. You will be seduced by its charms!
Provence and Luberon has been enjoyed by many as their first foray into cycling. There are a few hills but the gradients are not steep. Plenty of fantastic scenery, a great climate and wonderful food add to the enjoyment. It's also good if you are a couple or group of mixed ability, as there is the opportunity to give Mont Ventoux a go!
Bordeaux is generally flat although it has some longer days and one in the middle with more undulations; but again, it has been many peoples' first cycling tour and they have come back for more. Of course, there is also the benefit of a warm climate and lazy evenings with a glass of local wine!
Our Loire Valley Classic ride is a fantastic introduction to France and cycling; where better to start that one of the most beautiful and famouse regions in the world, let alone France. There are not many hills and plenty of places to stop and admire the scenery.
