TOUR GUIDE / ASSISTANT GUIDE, SUMMER 2023

Due to high demand for our cycling tours we are seeking to recruit additional male and female staff for the Summer season 2023, from mid April to mid October. These will be part time casual work where you would work for a minimum of 4 weeks spread across the season (weeks / dates to be agreed in advance).

The successful candidates will be happy spending time abroad for several weeks at once accompanying our cycling tours in France, Belgium, Holland, Spain and Germany. We have a great variety of tours and so you would see many new places.

The roles will be based around driving a support vehicle and will include luggage handling, basic bike mechanics, customer orientation, provision of picnic lunches, but most importantly being a friendly face for our riders.

There is a fair amount of physical activity involved in both roles so you will need to be physically fit. You will probably already be a keen cyclist, or at least have an interest in cycling and sport generally.

Hours can be long in the season and the work is tiring, without days off mid-tour, but it is also great fun meeting new people every week and helping them to enjoy themselves. Thus you will definitely be a ‘people person’ who is confident and capable of interacting with others from all walks of life and of all ages. Days off will be taken in between tours.

These are non-cycling roles but there is often the opportunity to ride in the evenings after guests have reached their accommodation, although this is not guaranteed.

Board (breakfast and dinner on the majority of evenings) and lodging in twin rooms is provided on tour as well as a salary which is above average for this sector.

A working knowledge of French  and / or Spanish is required for the Tour Guide role. It would also be beneficial for the Assistant Guide role, as we foresee the right candidate for this position being asked to lead tours once they have learnt the ropes.

You will need to be a flexible, adaptable person able to use your initiative and to cope with the unexpected that may suddenly come up.

A full clean driving licence is required.

In the first instance, email your CV and a covering letter telling us why you feel the role would suit you, and a recent photograph of yourself, to [email protected]
