Famous chateau in the Loire

Chateau de Cheverny is still in private hands today and is a delightful ‘small’ chateau, family run with their pack of 70 hunting dogs.

Loire valley cycling is full of history and French culture, each place with its claim to fame, these stops make great rest breaks when you are planning a cycling holiday in France.

This particular chateau inspires some nostalgia for me as it was used as the model for Marlinspike Hall by Herge in his Tintin books.

Have a look at this Wikipedia page for a photo and scroll down for a sketch from the comic book.
